So, what's the order of the code for the second door? I know to follow the arrow, but that doesn't exactly help when there's multiple floors. I'm too dumb for this. ;-;

(+1)

Go to the highest floor, pick the number on the left side, then go to the right side, same floor and pick the second number.

Then go downstairs, pick number on left side then right side same floor.

It looks like this:

top floor (numbers left to right) + floor below (numbers left to right)

Numbers are randomized each time you reload the game

(+2)

😊👍
(+1)

Very cool, liked your video!

(+1)

where is update 6

joke

(+3)

no fr this was the best version

(1 edit)

This game is just a miracle! But I have a few questions:

1) When should we wait for the plot update in 2023?

2) Will the bandits from the old versions be added to the game in the update?

3) Will there be an update of the dismemberment, since there is very little dismemberment in the new version of the Leaden Sky

4)Will the game be ported to Android?

P.S:I can't find the 2014 Leaden Sky anywhere.Where can I find her?

(+2)

Thanks, as for your qestions, new update will launch likely this month with new story elements, bandits will not return to the game, the dismemberment will stay as it is and Leaden Sky is PC only game.

(-1)

Hurtful. And I was hoping that these merry fellows would come back to us.And also I was hoping that I could play on my phone while waiting at the bus stop :(

But the mercenaries won't be the only group, will they? Will there be military, civilians or looters?

(+1)

any updates? lol

(+3)

I usually post everything on my Discord server, that's why I rarely post anything here.

It's going to take some time before next update because I plan to put it on Steam, but yes, it's absolutely in works and it will completely blow your mind when it comes out.
Things have changed and improved once again and I'm close to finishing the power plant level which now will be the first playable level.

It's very important for the story so I'm taking extra time to get it right

(+1)

oh fuck yes, also graphic settings are gonna come on next update too?

(+2)

Yes, a decent amount of them

hehe ysus

(+2)(-1)

I spam kind of but really interested in your dev so got to ask questions.

1) Will be game based on moments? ( Like Spec Ops: The Line ), will you make more variants of character due to story like:

1: Start - Clean outfit & no damage

2: Half - Dirty outfit, a bit damaged & bandages that cover wounds

3: End - Tottaly ruined outfit, damaged as well & morally killed after all that has he done ( Due to his nightmare world because of the stuff he survived and his travel. )

2) Will be almost every detail connected to story? ( Like how he see world and any living object in his nightmare )

3) How long game planned to be?

(+2)

1 - Yes, the story will influence character look in some ways, aside from that there will be major character development due to events in storyline.

2 - Lots of details will be connected to either main storyline or world building. I plan to make extensive use of environmental storytelling and put a lot of small details into character's dialouges, I even consider adding some dialouge options which would serve for additional, more detailed information for the player for those who are interested.

3 - The game is planned to be around 4-6 hours at least, might even hit the 8 hour mark but I can't guarantee that.
I plan to have some replayability with some freedom of exploration, optional world detail to discover and even some secret areas.

(+1)

Made Steam game profile concept or something like this for fun.

Hope you like.

(+1)

Looks cool, but I prefer drawing unique art cover for Steam page instead of using a screenshot

I'm not a artist so i just used A.T.M.O.S.P.H.E.R.E. video from your Leaden Sky channel.

Hope you will get money to upload Leaden Sky on Steam.

(+1)

Still pretty cool, I plan to put the next demo version on Steam

Ohh, waiting for it!

hey man ive been trying to get old updates of leaden sky so i can play the gore testing. I wanna know if its still possible

(+1)

No, but you can this game:

https://helghast-95.itch.io/final-response

oh alr thanks ill save up

I registered on itch.io just to say that

1)  Leaden Sky will make insane popularity kick in Russian countries so you better make ru text ( maybe even voice dub ). I say that as Russian one

2) You can get your money from Final Response and try to upload Leaden Sky on Steam when it will be done ( If you still have savings from Final Response )

You're the second dev that i follow in my life so i wait for full game version.

(2 edits) (+1)

Thanks a lot, I'm glad you like my game this much, as for the languages I currently only plan two: my own (Polish) and English which is universally used.
The voices are going to stay the same because there is a story reasons behind those (some characters natively speak Polish because the game takes place there and foreigners speak English, this is just for better immersion)

At some point after release of the game, I'll be adding various other languages to the game when I earn enough funds for it and I'll have more time of course.

It can be a bit difficult to make a proper file system for it, but I'm sure I can figure something out some day. In any case I'll try to keep text files open for modding if anyone wanted to translate it by themselves

Thanks for answer. Good to know.

(+1)

No problem

(+1)

May i ask you?

How long you carry your idea ( Leaden Sky ) ? I saw your old versions with 10 year old like.

(+1)

It goes back to 2010, I actually finished Leaden Sky many years ago but never released it because I wasn't satisfied with it. During that time I started over many times, it was just a hobby for me

when i open the game the screen is stuck on the loading screen, but i can hear the music and can click the menu buttons, gpu problem or is there a fix?

(+1)

Try turning on OpenGL support in your graphics card

I have 2 questions

1.Can we still get acces to older versions of the game

2.Why don't you want the game to be modded, it would be tons of fun:D

(1 edit) (+1)

Because older versions of the demos were too old, they were just prototypes that are no longer representative of final product, thus no longer serve the purpose of a demo.
They are not even remotely close to how finished game will look like, so to avoid confusion they were removed.

To allow easy modding the game needs to be specifically designed for it which makes it more difficult for developer. I have a certain vision in mind and I want the game to stand strong on it's own. If this was a sandbox game then not having mods would be an issue, but story based games are totally fine without modding support.

(+2)

1. They were pretty old I know, but I would love to just go back to the old game to play around with the old gore, dont call me a freak or a weirdo but you know that there are some gore games fans

2. I understand, can't change your mind about it, maybe in the futute you can make a sandbox game based on leaden sky if you have time, I would certainly play one, duh I would even pay some good money for a game like this if there will be one. Thats just a suggestion, for now I wish you best luck with the game development. A tak w ogóle, jestem z Polski, dumny mieszkaniec Częstochowy i obrońca Jasnej Góry;))

(+1)

Dzięki wielkie, jak chcesz pograć w starą wersję skupiającą się na sandboxie to zrobiłem osobną grę od tego bazującą na jednym z mocno ulepszonych dem, gra kosztuje 5 dolców:
https://helghast-95.itch.io/final-response

(+3)

where is the sky leading?

is this being worked on still?

(+2)

Yep

amazing

btw how do i get past the code door?

(+1)

in nightmare section you need to use keypad and kill all spawning enemies, the code will appear after that.
In warehouse in outskirts you need to read numbers from windows and follow the order which the arrow is pointing

thankz

(+1)(-2)

dang no Mac support man hopefully you can add it before you completely done

(+2)

I can try but I can't promise it will work

yaayyayaayaya lol sorry for taking so long to re reply

I need help with the door puzzle in chapter one. i have 47 0 with an arrow and 0.

(+1)

numbers are randomized each time you load the game, go to the top floor and follow the order which arrow is pointing out

(+1)

i gotta say this is a masterpiece and i think this is the best itchio game

Many thanks!

(+2)

keep it up man my brother and i have been waiting a really long time for this and i'm really liking the military direction in which this is going, although the gore does seem toned down in this version

(+1)

Thanks a lot!

(+1)

this is so good.
i understand why people are confused/unsatisfied with tuning down some aspects of the game, like gore, but i think its a necessary step in game developing.
same happened with lots of games - they scrapped some of the original content (which was really good prior) for other ideas. its a inevitable step in game developing ig.
please continue developing.

(2 edits) (+2)

Thanks a lot, game development is a very complex topic, behind every change there are multiple reasons so I'm glad you can understand this and I wish there were more people like you.

Anyways, thanks for the comment, I will definitely continue development until the game is fully released.

(+2)

👍

whats the new update?

(+1)

https://helghast-95.itch.io/leaden-sky-official/devlog/448081/leaden-sky-update-...

(-3)

bruh it needs to make changes to my device

?

(+2)

Fantastyczna Gra nie moge się doczekać pełnej wersji

(+1)

Dzięki wielkie!

will there be further types of optmization for the game? like body count and disable/enable settings like GFX Paritcles and bloom/blur?

It would really help to make it run easier on the pcs!

(+2)

There is no bloom or blur so resolution change is currently the only way to increase performance, but there might be more options in future

yepp.... happy new year btw lol

(+2)

Thanks, happy new year to you too

(-2)

i played ur last demo but the older demo (the update 5 one) was better.sounds, gameplay even cutscene drawings are better.i dont get it.really.

(1 edit) (+2)

Hello there, since you said that you don't get it, let me explain it in detail.

New version features sounds for basically every small thing in game, including even details like different sounds for footsteps depending on surface, multiple ambient sounds for various locations and finally functional dynamic music that plays correctly, none of those things were present in old update and the music was glitchy, there was even a bug where 2 tracks would play at the same time or would constantly reset in wrong moments, you couldn't even adjust music volume.

Now when it comes to gameplay, improvements are even more obvious. First thing you notice is that you are finally able to choose difficulty and the game finally features checkpoints and saves your progress, while in old version if you died you would be send back to the start of 20 min long level, this was highly criticized.  Big part of gameplay is also level design and AI, both of those were massively improved in 2022 update compared to update 5, which had mostly flat levels and bad AI this resulted in worse gameplay. Meanwhile fights with AI in 2022 demo are pretty challenging and the levels themselves are far better balanced for combat and progression, featuring more variety and additional activities besides combat.

As for the cutscenes, I have to simply disagree:

(-1)

thanks for your long explanational answering..but i need to say again(!).most of cutscene drawings were still better than older one.in which the characters in it expecially..and in new update has no death animations,no real NPC (but just anomalies)..thats dissappointing of course.why did you remove death-agony animations?just why!?thats like resident evil 2 remake animations versus re3 nemesis remake animations..game is new but not in the things that makes the game good..im sorry for my english but i hope it is understandable.thanks and good luck.

(+1)

No problem at all, I'm happy to discuss anything about the game, now I want to explain some more.
There is a short, physics based death animation, but characters don't go into disabled state so they don't get stuck in weird, immersion breaking positions and they don't impact CPU performance as much, in new system ragdolls function a lot more stable, have more weight thanks to better configuration and don't freeze on their knees like they did before, their code is also much more clearer and easier to work with which helps with adding new enemy types and avoiding glitches. I think the comparison to RE2 and RE3 is a bit inaccurate because, it removed ragdolls completely but here the ragdolls stayed.
When it comes to npc's you do have human enemy types, not just anomalies, there are 3 kinds of mercs which all have different functions in gameplay and a much better AI than before, but you need to complete tutorial level to encounter them.

As for the cutscenes, most of them are also still work work in progress since they are created for much larger scenes and take more work to fill up with detail. Some are certainly better than old ones like the graveyard cutscene I showed you but I do realize characters need some work so it's all being improved for upcoming update. Here is a sample of one of the improved scenes (best see in full resolution):

as you can see here the ammount of detail is unlike anything in previous updates, the characters are now a lot more realistic and the lighting is accurate.

There is a clear difference in quality.

I'm sorry to hear you did not enjoy the demo, but I hope you will try out upcoming update and hopefully enjoy it now.

I have a lot of improvements prepared so it's worth to wait

Do you plan on adding any new voice work to the game?

(+1)

Not for the demo, aside from improving current voices

I do voice acting for games so if you are in need for voices for the full game I can help.

(+1)

sure

(+1)

Sorry for the laten reply
You can view my work here
https://www.fiverr.com/share/mVBWg9

from that page you may see the other gigs I perform and good luck on the game.

is this a virus because i get a warning before i download it it says "are you sure that this file is safe because the system couldnt scan it are you sure you want this downloaded" or something like that i really wanna play it but im scared tho

(+1)

It's so called "false-positive" it's a false detection when anti-virus does not recognize application, this is common with Game Maker games, it's not a virus.

can anyone help me when i launch the game its a loading screen and i waited for hours but when i press windows and get back to the game it's a black screen and there is a music

hello, your computer probably doesn't meet minimum system requirements

very sad to hear that i wish i could play but love your content

Thanks a lot

(+1)

nerver mind i fixed it

everytime its says  please help please

i just showd my friend this game, nice its updated again

(1 edit) (+2)

I remember watching Vlad the Mad (Random Madness) and hearing about your game, I was mostly interested in the Gore but now it blossomed into something else. Ive been around since build v3 I think? Keep going man, Sick shit

(+1)

Thanks a lot, while the story and lore changed, the game is generally back on track with my original concept - a strong story driven, single player game and I'm happy about it

(+2)

really good game

(+2)

Im saving myself for the full game, this looks amazing so far, keep it up and good luck.

(+1)

Thanks!

(+2)

Great story, good music, smooth animation, meet some graphics bug but maybe because of my graphic card :). Can't wait to play this game when it fully out

(+1)

Thanks a lot, I'm glad you enjoyed the game ;)

If you have technical issues I can try helping you with that

I remember seeing gameplay of this from forever ago in the gore testing level, I installed the game and I really like it but could you add the gore testing level into the 2022 demo? Or the finished game? I think that would be really fun, but great game! Good story too.

(+1)

Thanks and about your question - that's not gonna happen, Leaden Sky is not a sandbox game and gore testing room was a developer tool, not a feature and was never intended to stay.

(+2)

Dude no way, just done the demo, it was absolutely amazing. THIS IS JUST A 2D GAME, IT SO GOOD!

(+2)

Hey, thanks a lot!

(2 edits) (+3)

Helghast_95, I personally commend you for creating in what is, the only word I can find, a masterpiece.
i'll start off with what I noticed, liked, and loved from what i've seen in this game so far.
The Music, absolutely beautiful soundtrack that nails the atmosphere, and even in itself tells a story.
The visuals, they are absolutely stunning, and made me feel immersed inside the world that i'm surrounded in.
I want to give major props to the voice acting.
Kyle's tone fits his character, a raspy low broken soldier.
Joanna has a gentle, innocence to her, but you can tell she also lowers herself to kyle's level. and I appreciate it.
The beginning cutscenes were extremely emotional, and the relationship they hold together I personally felt, which is extremely hard for games to accomplish sometimes.
and the level design is astounding, grimy, dark and beautifully grotesque.
the psychological aspect of this game is what hooks me the most, and it is a perfect blend of Horror.
(now for the combat oriented stuff.)
the guns look, and feel perfect.
they have a crisp and punchy sound with each shot and the reloading is simple, and clean. I sat there for a few minutes admiring the reload animations.
I really enjoyed seeing the bulletproof vests "dust" or "powder" shoot out when i hit it, gave a sense of realism and again, weightiness to everything.
the grenades, well would it be cringy if i said it was explosive? (it's awesome)
========================================================
now the thing I was unsure about and it doesn't have to be seen as a bad thing either, I know how early this update is, and I know for a fact things are bound to change.
The Gore.
now this isn't the usual comment saying "I need more gore to fuel my psychotic tendencies"
the reason I say "gore" is because I believe from what i've seen, is it lacks in some areas.
I'll include a few, blood spilling, bullet holes and interactability.
I do not by any means, mean amping it up to 11 like the earlier updates.
the reason I mention these specific things, is because it because without them it feels very "stiff" in a way in my opinion it doesn't compliment the surroundings and atmosphere, again, this is something i'm unsure about and not a complaint at all. Just something I noticed and would love to see the direction this takes.
========================================================
now I want to talk about pacing and general firefights (with humans) that occur.
what i've noticed is it has taken almost a "turn based" feel, where before it felt more like "push-combat" personally I found hiding behind boxes and simply uncrouching for 1 headshot too quick to be engaging, there were a few times where multiple would push forward, allowing me to unload a few shots, but other than that it just felt disconnecting.
again, this could change in the future.
========================================================
(combat with anomalies and monsters)
these fights have that "push-combat" feel to them I was talking about before, where you almost gotta charge through them to get to your goal.
the designs are amazing, the effects are great and it compliments the surroundings very well.
can't wait to see more of these as the game continues to develop.
========================================================

There is so much I could write about this Demo, and even if i'm unsure about certain things, I can move past it and accept what the game is, and it is one hell of an experience.

Thank you, Helghast_95
for sticking to this, and making it into what it is today.
I cannot wait to see the future of this game.

                                                                                 -DeimosNoctis

(+2)

Hello there, thanks for playing the game, I'm really glad you enjoyed mentioned aspects such as the atmosphere and storytelling.

It's been a great focus here so delivering a proper feel was very important.

I plan to expand on those ideas and concepts as well as going in depth with various pieces of the story, likely through various means often related to

environmental storytelling and secrets you can find around the game world.

While I know the game isn't perfect, I will have to disagree about the "stiffness" you mentioned. In my understanding stiffness comes from the lack of proper animations and those have been improved compared to previous updates as well as the ragdoll physics that are now much heavier and more consistent compared to the old ragdolls which were constantly freezing in weird positions, had stiff movements etc.

Previously during combat, hit animations didn't play correctly and sometimes they just didn't play at all, but in new update this problem is solved and now the hit animation appears on every hit. Additionally an animation of character being knocked back has been added which helps to add more weight to the shooting feel itself.

As for the gore, we do see bullet holes, shrapnel wounds, blood pools, blood spilling on every hit, blood dripping down walls, brain chunks and even dismemberment, while it's obviously not the main focus it's definetely still brutal and looks pretty realistic in my opinion. I might still get some improvements, but as I said, it won't be anything major.

As for the human combat I aim for a slower and more tactical feel, currnetly the levels were pretty simple just to get player used to the basics of combat, but later I will be greatly expanding on those ideas, adding more variety to environments and maybe you will even see mercs fighting anomalies, which should be pretty cool sight.

I'm glad you enjoyed combat with monsters, this kind of combat will be the main focus of the game, so many more types of those enemies will be added and their combat abilites will be expanded for even more enjoyable gameplay.

Aside from dynamic enemies running at you, you will also experience more passive environmental hazards and anomalies that will be interactive with the use of special weapons.

Thanks for taking time to write your comment, it is a pleasure to have you here.

(+2)

Hello again thank you for your reply, regarding your points of the stiffness and body gore, you are correct, on the gore side of things, after some testing, it seems my monitor was darker than usual, only affecting the models(?) and i was unable to see the finer details in the models themselves.
for the stiffness, I was wrong in my point and yes, what you said was also correct.
thank you for bringing this to my attention and correcting me.
I also have a question I meant to ask during my previous comment about being able to skip cutscenes for replayability? if this will be added in the future at some point, or if there is a button I have not found yet, thank you!                                                                                            -DeimosNoctis

(+2)

No problem, always happy to reply. Unfortunately brightness or gamma correction doesn't work correctly in Game Maker so I didn't implement it yet, which is why the game might appear too dark sometimes when your screen settings are darker than designed. I'll likely have to implement a custom DLL for that.

Cutscenes are only unskippable on a first playthrough but when you complete the demo you can skip them few seconds after they start playing with "ESC" button, the hint should appear on top-left corner of the screen

(+2)

Awesome, Thanks so much, i'll be replaying often so that's good to hear.
Thank you for your time, i'll be posting any questions that arise in the future!
                                                              -DeimosNoctis

Can we have a option to turn off certain particles to lag less?

also i belive i'm stuck on the first code room,i dont know what to do =C

You can lower your resolution, it will give you massive boost.

Just use kepad, monsters will spawn

yeah,i'm stuck there,i dont know whats the code or if its even pre set,i did lower the resolution but it still lags even tho there was no monsters or creatures spawned, when it takes to the background scenarios

nvm just beated it

(+1)

just finished the demo, what an amazing experience,oh yeah, will there be the soundtrack on steam once leaden sky is fully out? like hotline miami etc?
