It is made in Godot, right? Do you still have the Game Maker version of the game? And btw. any major reason why you decided to switch to Godot?

The one from video and screenshots is made in Game Maker 1.4, you can now download it, check the files again.

With new projects I switched to Godot because it has proper 3D support while Game Maker has not, the things I did with it are over the boundaries of engine.

Did u write more in blog?

You can look around my projects and Leaden Sky youtube to find out more

This has potential to be a multiplayer survival horror game imo.

Nah, single player like the first one

also, did you finish leaden sky? the 2d side scroller ver? or you just stopped working on it fully?

I still work on it, but I consider remaking it as 3D FPS game in Godot using the assets and code I already made for Leaden Sky 2.

I would keep the story, characters, level and artstyle, I would just recreate it all in 3D and breathe new life into it, there would be still hand drawn cutscenes with a better, more hand-painted artstyle and charcoal style arts in notes.

I think this game would really work a lot better as FPS game (my favourite game genre and something I actually grew up with), the horror, exploration and gameplay would be significantly improved thanks to 3D perspective and the development is also going incredibly fast because of significantly better tools for it, Godot is an incredible game development tool and I was able to make a playable prototype in just 2 months! (you can see the gameplay video in my comment below) Just imagine how fast would Leaden Sky 1 be developed in it.

This is just an idea, let me know what you think.

would be cool if they were two diff games, maybe same story but still maybe work on both 2d and 3d, since the 2d one had that good feeling when playing it, now i can barely play the 3d one lol- at least the 2d version was a bit playable, i wish you continued focusing a bit onto the 2d at least, since its where most of the fanbase came from, because of the 2d shooter, but thats just me lol, also sorry if i say something out of context or confusing, i just came back from the hospital and im groggy

Indeed imo I would love to see both come to life, both are amazing concepts!

is it now godot?

In couple of months/weeks when I'm done working on upcoming LS1 demo

epix

Here is the current state, I'm done working on lighting system. Now as I said I'll be busy mostly with upcoming LS1 demo but the next step for LS2 prototype 2 will be adding enemies. Prototype should come out in about 2 months but I can't promise anything

Weird decision, masterful execution. At first I was, lets say, stunned - 'Wait, Leaden Sky 2?  What about the first game? It's finished?'

Looking forward to both the games being released. Lets see what you've got for us in this year!

(+2)

Thanks a lot! I agree that's absolutely non-standard decision of mine, however I simply felt inspired for something like this and had to prototype it.
I want it to feel really close to 2D prequel, but of course I will make some small gameplay changes to keep it fresh.
Anyways I can't wait to release LS1 this year, I got some big plans for it and it's 3D sequel.

I love the game but it's hard to play with low end computer would you possible make it possible for us to have a pause menu where we can change the graphics other than that it's amazing more guns would also be nice

(+1)

No problem at all, first thing I did in new prototype is configurable resolution and couple of performance options, on top of that new prototype is being made in Godot instead of Game Maker so it will run, look and play significantly better now. New prototype will be done in few weeks because currently I'm focusing on finishing last LS1 demo and maybe after that I'll also work on Leaden Sky: Nightmares

Thank you so much and i love the work i really do this prototype game reminds me of escape from tarkov alot and again thank you so much.

im happy that this sequel exists and that it differs from the prequel in gameplay.

Awesome stuff, love the gun. Keep it up!

Runs smooth on my PC.

And no it should not be a third person game wtf. Ignore the comments and do your thing man.

Video here: https://youtu.be/VzVhvqNno1U

Thanks a lot, I'm glad you liked it!

I also watched your gameplay video, I can see you had fun experimenting with different tactics which is great to see

I think it should be a 3d tps since leaden sky was an tps in 2d with side view (sidescroller) perspective

(+1)

That's because first person in 2D is impossible, also personally I would say that FP perspective works better for cramped spaces and makes horror more personal

(+1)

Okay

(+1)

does this game has the weird start also? imma do also a gameplay of it if needed

(+1)

Nah, it goes straight into the gameplay after you launch it

(1 edit)

oh i checked it out, runs slow af idk why kek, hope it get optmized soon!

(+1)

It will get rewritten in Godot engine which is much more like Source, that means a lot better performance and visual quality in general, not to mention 3D physics

i hope
